During the 1960s, the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) used a strange tactic to spy on potential targets- by using a cat.
This was performed using listening devices attached to a stray cat, before letting it loose to discreetly record and spy on the target.

Unfortunately, the curious cat ran away and was run over by a taxi.
This was an unfortunate end to an otherwise peculiar form of intelligence-seeking
